The Village of Grafton is seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Human Resources Generalist who is passionate about helping those that serve our community. In this vital role, you will provide professional personnel services to the employees, supervisors, and elected and appointed officials.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with internal and external customers to effectively interpret, communicate and administer policies, procedures, laws, and standards/government regulations; screens and professionally redirects customers when necessary.
- Manage full cycle recruitment process to meet the staffing goals of each department.
- Coordinate pre-employment testing and background checks, conduct employee orientation, and coordinate employee onboarding activities.
- Benefit administration including the preparation and coordination of employee benefit enrollments, inquiries, and payments as well as new hire reporting to the State of Wisconsin.
- Oversight of Workers Compensation claims and program.
- Assist in maintaining employee database including total hours, changes in name or address, salary changes, and exemptions.
- Assist in the preparation of biweekly payrolls.
- As webmaster for organization, oversees the maintenance of the Village internet website, employee intranet website, and various social media outlets.
- Assists in the preparation, publication, and distribution of the Village’s budget, popular annual financial report, and comprehensive annual financial report.
- Take, prepare, and distribute Finance and Personnel Committee minutes and reports. Prepares records such as ordinances, resolutions and proclamations.
- Serve as first point of contact for servers and departmental computers, including personal computer purchasing and set-up and coordinates with the Village’s IT support consultant as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Human Resources Professional Certification (SHRM or HRCI) or ability to obtain within 24-months.
- Experience using NEOGOV applicant tracking and onboarding software and Caselle payroll software is desirable.
