2015 Youth "Plein Air" Contest
In mid-June, Cedarburg's inviting National Historic District and creekside walkways become the backdrop for hundreds of Plein Air artists from all over the country. The Cedarburg Cultural Center and the Love 4 Lexi Foundation are pleased to sponsor the 2015 Youth Plein Air Contest. Awards will be presented in each age category: 5 & under, ages 6-8, ages 9-12 and ages 13-17, as well as a People?s Choice award, voted on by the many visitors expected to view the artwork over this year?s Strawberry Festival weekend on Saturday and Sunday, June 27 & 28. Finished works on canvas or paper should be unframed and be a completed size of 8x10 or 11x14. Paper may be purchased at the Cedarburg Cultural Center, or artists are invited to use their own paper or canvas. Entry is $6 per child, or free entry is included with participation in the Color Your World Art Camp (click here for details) Each artist may complete an unlimited number of pieces, but only one entry per artist may be entered into the contest. Before beginning your artwork, each blank canvas or paper must be stamped at the registration table at the Center anytime from June 13-24, 2015. Unstamped artwork will not be accepted. Art created during the Color Your World Art Camp classes may not be entered into the competition. Have fun getting out into the sunshine with your paints, pencils, crayons or pastels and create a work in your favorite location within Ozaukee County. Please choose your locations safely! REGISTRATION Saturday, June 13 through Wednesday, June 24 ? Register at the Cedarburg Cultural Center: Tuesday - Saturday: 10 am - 5 pm / Sunday: Noon - 4 pm. Before beginning your artwork, bring your blank canvas or paper to be stamped, or purchase supplies at the Center. 8x10 or 11x14 sizes only please. CONTEST DATES Saturday, June 13 through Wednesday, June 24 at 5 pm. Artists may work anywhere in Ozaukee County, but it must be outdoors. DEADLINE FOR DROPPING OFF ARTWORK Wednesday, June 24 at 5 pm Drop off unframed entries at the Cedarburg Cultural Center. Paintings should be dry. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 5 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. AWARDS & EXHIBIT Awards Ceremony: Tuesday, June 30: 5:30-7:00 pm Art Exhibit: Friday, June 26 through Saturday, August 8, 2015
